In and around Wexford Town

dining3Kelly's Resort Hotel & Spa, La Marine Restaurant, Rosslare Strand, Co. Wexford has been approved as providing healthy kids menus, based on nutritional guidelines, by RTE’s The Afternoon Show. Look out for the ‘Improved Tasty and Healthy Menu For Kids’ sticker and charter in the restaurant! Closed til Spring every year.

dining3Mother Hubbards Restaurant, Larkins Cross- Fantastic Family Value 2 adults and 2 kids including drinks only 25 euro!

dining3D'Lush, Wexford Art Centre, Corn Market, Wexford, Tel: (053) 91 23795.  A great place for snacks, lunch or something more substantial, don't let the size of the place put you off. It is a small venue and not buggy friendly, but it's worth stopping in to savour the menu, the food is great - try the spelt pancakes.

dining3O'Briens Sandwich Bar, Redmond Square, Wexford. Tel: (053) 9126639.
O'Briens Sandwich Bar does a decent sandwich if that's what you're after. The kids meal comes with basic sandwich, a box of juice plus an option of fruit or crisps. Toasties are extra. We also like the option of a smoothie, soup, wrappos and a side order of cucumber rather then crisps

dining3O'Briens Sandwich Bar, 41 North Main Street, Wexford. Tel: (053) 9122242.
A larger cafe with great outdoor space upstairs often over-taken by smokers but if no smokers, it's a good place for a sunny day lingering lunch or coffee and a chat mid week. O' Briens are currently running a Rachael Allen range, the quesidillas are a big hit with my son (just ask for less chilli flakes!)

dining3Sidetracks, The Quays, Wexford. Tel: (053) 9121666
Sidetracks a step back in time I always think, traditional to say the least but honest fayre at honest prices.

dining3Fulacht Fiádh Restaurant, The Irish National Heritage Park, Ferrycarrig. Tel: (053) 912 0733

dining3If you have never been to Kates Farm Shop it is a must detour.  It is excellent for picking up all you need for a picnic or for a weekly shop; fruit and vegtables at their peak, deli full of local produce, baked goods, soups and whole foods, etc. Kates is packed with just about every locally grown and made goodie from the Wexford region.

dining3Kehoe's Pub And Marine Heritage Centre, Kilmore Quay Co Wexford
T: (053) 9129830

dining3Meyler's Milhouse Bar and Restaurant, Tacumshane, Co Wexford.  Near Tacumshane Lake and adjacent to one of the last remaining intact windmills in Ireland, this is a great day out for all the family.  Ask behind the bar for the key to the windmill and let the kids imagine how the corn mill worked. See map for details of where to go.  brilliant food and kids menu very creative in there kids deserts give it 10/10.  (Thanks to Nikki Redmond for the suggestion via facebook!)

dining3The Westgate Design Shop, 22a North main street, Wexford. It has a great cafe downstairs which is very family friendly.. a busy little place where you will see plenty of other kids and good food. The shop itself is an absolute wonderland for adults (but not very kid proof as there is a lot of really nice and expensive designer crockery).

dining3The Star Bakery, 78, South Main St Wexford.  Has lovely home-baked Quiches and Sausage Rolls which are a big hit with the kids, not to mention lovely cakes and I might add, the best Apple Tart in Wexford!

dining3Bob Roche's pub in Duncannon have a fantastic kids menu with lots of healthy choices. The chicken pieces are homemade. Good value for money and staff who are welcoming to children. (thanks to Helen Mason for the suggestion via facebook!)

dining3There's an adorable little restaurant at Blackwater Open Farm, I'd highly recommend it for a day with kids (as suggested by Ursula Clarke via facebook, many thanks!)

dining3Le Poisson D'Or- Kilmore Quay Co Wexford. High chairs and childrens menu.  This restuarant is located opposite the new playground in Kilmore Quay.  Tel:+353 (0)53 914 8853
