Culture Night 2011 takes place on Friday, September 23rd. 

Museums, galleries, churches, historic houses, artists’ studios and cultural centres will open their doors late into the evening, welcoming people of all ages to taste and sample their cultural delights for free!

Clare will be no exception, with lots of venues offering the opportunity to experience and enjoy a diverse range of fun and entertainment. We have listed the events in Clare, which we think might interest families.

The Secret of Kells - Film
The Pop-Up Playhouse Friar’s Walk Carpark, Ennis 7.30pm PG (75 mins) Magic, fantasy and Celtic mythology come together in a riot of colour that dazzle the eyes in a sweeping story about the power of imagination and faith to carry humanity through dark times. Academy Award Nominee 2010 – Best Animated Feature

Night at the Museum
Clare Museum, Ennis 7.30pm PG (108 mins) A newly recruited night security guard at the Museum of Natural History discovers that an ancient curse causes the animals and exhibits on display to come to life and wreak havoc. See it in the unique setting of your very own Museum, for one night only

The Poulnarbrone Bouncy Dolmen

Friar’s Walk Carpark, Ennis The Poulnabrone Bouncy Dolmen by Jim Ricks is a monumental inflatable sculpture designed for members of the public, of all ages, to interact with.It is a replica, at twice the scale, of the famous 6,000 year old megalithic portal tomb of the same name.

The Gruffalo and Friends
The Pop-up Playhouse, Friar’s Walk Carpark 3.30pm & 5.30pm Ages: 3-6 years, Duration: 50 mins Music in the Glen present an interactive live music show centred on the classic story of the cunning mouse and the scariest beast in the forest… the Gruffalo. The show includes other classic songs & stories and takes place in The Pop-up Playhouse, a Spiegeltent for the 21st century.
