Rainy Day Activities in Roscommon

We have lots of suggestions for rainy day activities! We have tried & tested them all so whatever the age of your kids, hopefully we have something for you.

One of our favourite rainy day activities is visiting Roscommon Leisure Zone. Let the kids bowl, run, bounce and play for a couple of hours while you join in the fun or relax with a cup of coffee.

Another great rainy day activity is a visit to Graune Pet Farm and Playcentre

How about going for a swim? A trip to the swimming pool is a great way to burn off excess energy on a rainy day. There is a great public pools at Roscommon Leisure Centre. Don't forget a drink and snack for afterwards.

A great rainy day activity is a visit to your local Library or Bookshop. Most libraries provide a dedicated children’s area catering for children of all ages where you can get lost in the magic of books. Enjoy reading with them or browse for that special book to take home. Most libraries have free kids memberships so they can check the books out themselves too!

Rainy days are a perfect excuse to visit local museums and heritage centres such as Cruachan Ai Heritage Centre. The kids will be fascinated to learn of their heritage - educational and fun.

If the rain is not too heavy, you could always grab the raincoats and wellies and go for a short walk, where the kids can happily run and splash in puddles or feed the ducks. It will make a refreshing change from trying to avoid the puddles. There are lots of lovely walks around Roscommon - see here for some suggestions.
