1. Belvedere House Gardens and Park is a magnificent parkland estate on the shores of Lough Ennell.  It is set in the midst of 160 acres of parkland on the lake shore.  Playground at entrance, Parkland walk with fairy garden and swings dotted also the 2 mile walk. Cafe and exhibitor centre also.

2. Viking Ship Cruises, Athlone. Step back 1,200 years and join the Vikings on a replica Viking Ship. Cruise up the River Shannon to Lough Ree (1hr 15min) or down river to the monastic settlement and round tower of Clonmacnoise (1hr 30min one way). Fun and excitement for all the family. Departs from Athlone Castle and tickets are available onboard

3. Mullingar Town Park, newly developed playground, pond, glider, swings and enclosed childrens area. Town centre Mullingar.

4. Glendeer Pet Farm, award winning twelve acre open farm near Athlone town. The farm itself comprises of 6 acres and an additional 6 acres of a nature walk. The farm has over 50 species of animals and becomes Ireland's own little Lapland in winter!

6.  Mullaghmeen Forest, has 1,000 acres of forest.  Great place to have picnics and there are long and short walks depending on level of fitness. It leads to the highest point in Westmeath (894ft.). Located only 8km from Castlepollard.
